Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Protima was raised in London and moved to the United States to attend Brown University. She received her J.D. from Emory University School of Law in Atlanta and is admitted to the State Bar of New York. Co-founder of the firm, she manages the practice and oversees the blog. Proficient in French and Italian, Protima also has a cursory understanding of Spanish, Hindi, and Sindhi. Protima is a British national who became a US citizen in 2012. Joseph was born in Pennsylvania and is a graduate of Thomas Aquinas College in California. Elizabeth obtained her bachelor’s degree from Bryn Mawr College and her J.D. from the University of Connecticut School Of Law. She is admitted to practice law in New York and Connecticut. She is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and a former Chair of the New York City Chapter's Executive Committee. Carolyn Szaiff Alvarez originally joined the Daryanani Law Group following the completion of her bachelor's degree in American government at Wesleyan University. A native New Yorker, Carolyn was born to Hungarian immigrant parents. She is fluent in Hungarian, and has studied French and Spanish. Carolyn enjoys cooking, traveling, and photographing her dog Pumpkin. She attended the Michigan State University College of Law, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. A native of Atlanta, Olivia attended New York University for her undergraduate degree, where she majored in history and received minors in creative writing and Irish studies. She received her J.D. cum laude from the University of Georgia School of Law. Outside of the office, she enjoys watching movies, is a regular viewer of Jeopardy, and loves estate sales and flea markets. Matthew has been active in the fight for human and immigrant rights for many years, having worked with numerous activist and advocacy groups in New York, California, and overseas. He obtained his bachelor’s degree from New York University and his J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law. He is admitted to the State Bar of New York. Matt has particular experience in deportation defense and evaluating the immigration consequences of criminal convictions.
